Dr Marian Quigley has enthusiastically re- embraced painting after almost 40 years devoted to teaching, researching and writing.. Marian, who has lived in the Bass Coast region since 1988, is a founding
member of Ibis Writers and has continued to work casually as a writer and editor since her retirement from academia in 2006.
A member of the Phillip Island Artists’ Society as well as BCAS, Marian has been exhibiting in regional art shows since 2009 and has won a number of Highly Commended Awards. She had her first solo exhibition at the Little Art Space, Milawa in 2010; a joint exhibition with Heather Carroll at the Inverloch Community Hub in the same year and has been involved in two joint shows together with members of
the BCAS life drawing classes.
Working primarily in acrylics, Marian is particularly interested in vibrant colour and flowing line. Tree and rock formations, as well as the female form are the major sources of inspiration for her work.
