The first major stop was at Kynton where all members had time for a browse in galleries and shops and for a liesurely lunch. It was then on to Castlemaine and a visit to the Castlmaine Regional Gallery and other galleries in the area. Then it was a nana nap at the motel before going off to the Railway Hotel for a boisteous meal with much laughter and bonding. After a liesurely breakfast the following day they were all off to the Buda Mansion for a guided tour and then free time before being taken to teh town centre for a free browse for a few hours. The Farmers Market was an attraction as was the Arts & Craft market and lots of loverly eating places and galleries of various desvcriptions. The ride home was a lot of fun judging by the laughter and talking going on for most of the trip. A great time was had by all.

Life Drawing
By drawing from the figure we are taught to look, observe, really “see” the subject. All the elements learnt from drawing from the live figure carry into our other work - painting in all its mediums, sculpture, carving and so on. Open to all members, wherever you are on your art journey - novice or more experienced- and there is no “show and tell” at the end unless you wish. These sessions are not tutored or structured, using the medium of your choice. Easels and seating are provided and we have many wonderful models as subjects.
Cost is $18 to cover the cost of model plus $2 towards upkeep.
Tuesday: 10am to 1pm; and 7pm to 10 pm.

Contemporary Art
A weekly Contemprary Art session has been established within the Bass Coast Artists' Society for those interested in expanding their artistic horizons to a wider level and to branch into new expressions. Under the watchful supervision of contemporary artist and experienced art tutor, Ken Rowe, the sessions are organised thematically so that every two weeks they will cover one of the generalised subjects such as landscape, portrait, still life, seascape, cubism, nude etc. with each person doing their own contemporary version of the theme. Towards the end of each session there is an informal critique within the group of each person's work which produces very useful insights/observations. The sessions are conducted at the Goods Shed Art Space on Friday afternoon from 1pm to 4pm. For information contact co-ordinator, Ken Rowe, Ph: 5672 3626, Email kegrow@bigpond.com and Jilly Yates, 5674 2859. Bus Trips to Galleries
The Society conducts regular bus trips to external galleries. The trips comprise visits to specific galleries, luncheon provided if desired, a visit to another point of interest such as a large art supplier or other places of interest. It is planned to have an overnight trip to Castlemaine and surroundings later in the year if enough interest is shown. This will involve visits to a range of galleries and art and craft groups with accommodation at local motels and meals at various pre-arranged eateries.
